NTK 2012 Rulebook Changes

Here are some of the major changes in the NTK 2012 rulebook that will take effect on March 1st, 2012.

We are now using the IKF rulebook. The NTK rulebook will supersede the IKF rulebook. We have IKF rulebooks on sale for $15.00.

Starting March 1st, all karts must be equipped with a rear bumper to protect the driver and kart from rear impact and to keep a following kart from reaching the rear tires. The bumper may be either CIK style plastic “rear wheel protection” or steel tube of a double bar design. Welded on “elephant ear” extensions are permissible. The bumper shall extent to at least the center of the rear tires.

Kart weights must be painted white and have a nut and be drilled and safety wired.

The mounting position for the scoring transponder shall be placed a minimum of 12 inches rearward of the centerline of the top left king pin to the leading edge of the transponder. If it’s on the seat it’s OK. If you are running a Rotax kart, it will be per Rotax rules, and the transponder will need to be mounted on the seat. IKF rule 206.2

Rookie Drivers: FIRST TIME DRIVERS: All drivers racing or practicing at North Texas Kartway for the first time must display an orange number plate on the back of his/her kart and race at the back of the class for three (3) races. He/she must have their Rookie Card signed by three race directors or NTK elected officials.

The biggest change will be to the names of the classes. They are as follows:

Banquet Wrap-Up

The 2011 Year-End Banquet at Robson Ranch was a fantastic finish to another great racing season at NTK.  The evening was action packed with over 150 attendees and over $15,000.00 worth of amazing racing giveaways, which included two Go-Pro Cameras, won by Chance Kelly and Bob Schabel, and a Chonda Engine Package won by Kevin Crowe.  The chefs at Robson Ranch did not disappoint the club, and presented NTK members with a delicious Italian dinner, which was accompanied by our club’s own Jim Hickerson as master of ceremonies for the night’s event.  Dr. Dwayne Roberts gave a gracious and heartwarming invocation speech.  Thank you Doctor for your touching speech and kind words.

The club’s board members, officers and chairs were all honored by the club with kind words from the club’s president, John Ray. Other highlights of the evening included the honoring of Lori Stine by John Ray, for another year of selfless commitment, dedication and hard work for the benefit of the club.  Bob Schabel was the recipient of the 2011 NTK’s Kids’ Choice Award as the most valuable member of NTK.  It was also exciting to honor NTK 2011 Junior Rookie of the Year driver, Jake Bien, and Senior Rookie of the Year driver, Thomas Jackson.  The Most Improved Driver award for junior drivers went to a well-deserved, Hunter Stine, and the Club’s 2011 Most Improved Senior driver went to Joe Emmons.  Congratulations to all four drivers for your well-deserved efforts!

A huge thank you to Tamara Roberts for donating her photography services by photographing our drivers throughout the season and preparing a slide show for banquet attendees to enjoy.  A job well done! Thanks Tamara!

The Class Champions were all honored, awarded with some pretty nice hardware and of course a pocket full of cash.  Congrats to 2011 NTK Champions:

Available Driving Gear?

NTK is in need of some driver suits, gloves, and helmets so we can ensure that our guests are well protected during their demo rides. If you have some old, but still in good condition gear, please contact an NTK officer or bring it to the track at the next race.

Thanks, NTK
