john rayThe Spring Series is over. We will be awarding trophies for our class champs soon. Now we move into our Summer Series and start racing at night under the lights starting at five o'clock in the evening.

Summer 1 will also be the Jim Hickerson Memorial Race in honor of the late Jim Hickerson who was our announcer and friend for a number of years. He always had a way with the microphone and dubbing racers with his brand of titles. We miss him very much. This is our way of honoring his legacy.

I need to remind all of our members about the speed limit on the easement road. Ten miles per hour may seem slow, but it keeps me out of trouble with the owner of the drag strip and his racers. Please comply.

The IKF Grand Nationals race is coming up in June. Registration forms are online. Remember, if you are not an IKF member you will not be able to race that race. The cost is minimal so consider joining and having a chance for a Duffy or screaming eagle trophy.

Our shade structure is proceeding on schedule. The concrete has been cut for the support beams and the contractor is building the truss beams and will be installing them this month.

Meanwhile tragedy struck our retaining wall when an elderly female drag racer slammed into it. She is okay. However, the wall didn't fair so well. it did its job in protecting our facility. It is a mess and we are pursuing legal action for its re-construction. (Just an FYI in case you were wondering or even noticed.)

See you at the track!
