Kali's Cure Charity Event - May 21-23

Kali's Cure Flyer The Kart Shop logoThe Kali's Cure Charity Event is scheduled at NTK Friday May 21 through Sunday May 23.

The Kart Shop is sponsoring the following classes and providing a $500 cash prize to the following classes.
  • Junior 1 / TAG Cadet / Comer K80 
  • Rotax Mini Max
  • Rotax Junior
  • Rotax Senior
  • Rotax Masters
  • Stock Shifter
NTK is sponsoring the following classes and providing a $500 cash prize to the following classes
  • Jr Super Sportsman
  • Sr Super Sportsman
  • Chonda

Kid Kart Prizes:
  • 1st Place - 4 Tickets to Six Flags
  • 2nd Place - 4 Box seats to a Texas Rangers game
  • 3rd Place - 4 Tickets to the June 5th Indy Car race at TMS
You can race on both Saturday and Sunday for one $50 entry fee. There are separate races on Saturday & Sunday. Saturday's race is for prizes and awards, Sunday's race is for cash 1st through 3rd place.  Drivers will get lots of seat time for their $50 entry fee!

Paid practice on Friday is only $25. Transponder rental is $10 per day.  Pre-registration is available on www.RaceLaps.com  or you can register at the track.

Spectator passes are $20 for adults, $10 (under 18) with access to facilities all three days, includes entry to concerts on Friday night.

Race Format: 10 minute qualifying with a hot pit. 8 lap pre final, 16 lap final. Kid karts will have a 8 minute qualifying, 8 lap pre-final and 8 lap final.

Saturday night there will also be a 75 Lap Chonda Endurance Race.

Chonda 75 Lap Endurance Race Rules

Weigh-in will be before the race starts.  Weight is based on an average driver weight of 170lbs and a kart weight of 150lbs for a total weight of 320lbs.  The 3 drivers will be weighed together on the scales. The total weight will be divided by 3. The kart weight plus the average driver weight must total at least 320lbs. The kart will be driven at the same weight with all 3 drivers throughout the race.

There must be 3 drivers per team. All drivers must race 25 laps. Drivers can be on more than 1 team (for more chances of winning).

No restrictors.

Le Mans start on straight between turns 6 & 7 - line up position determined by drawing during weigh-in.

NTK Chonda Rules - except open tires. Chonda is an affordable entry level class and the most important rule for the Chonda Endurance race is to have fun with your team mates!!!

Come out and meet the Grand Marshall, Indy 500 winner, Gordon Johncock.

There are international caliber racers planning on attending including "King of the Streets" champion Jordan Musser and Superkart Nationals champion Mike Jones . Plan on coming out and watching some of the best open wheel racing in this part of the country. In addition to the racing there is plenty of entertainment for spectators both young and old including live music, food, auctions, midway and exhibits.

Other entertainment includes a Bounce House for children and a R/C plane flyover. Friday night there will be 2 bands playing Bronze Whaler at 8pm and Full of Soul at 10pm. Black Eyed Pea will be providing concessions through out the weekend and will also be catering the Saturday Night Dinner at 7pm.

All proceeds from the event go to Kali's Cure to help find a cure for spinal cord injuries. More information at www.KalisCure.org

Volunteers Welcome

NTK Board Member George Kraus NTK welcomes volunteers to help on race day and is always in need of corner workers. You do not need to be a member or racer to help work a race. Benefits include a free pass and a front row seat right in the middle of all the action. Visit the forum thread to view the worker list and sign up for a position.
