Re: Briggs Motors in Kid Kart

Matt, that's cool you've jumped into the Honda kid kart motor. From what I've seen it looks like a huge step up from the Comer. Honda has published proposed rules for it including recommended gearing which I've heard is to equalize it to the Comer. Might check it out. http://www.ikfkarting.com/Offic...

Re: Exhuast systems / valves For chonda

The bracing helps but fundamentally the problem is the small diameter tubing (I think it's 0.75") and the thin wall which I think is 0.062". There's just not enough material there to stand up to the heat and vibration.

Re: Exhuast systems / valves For chonda

I'm not in the chonda class anymore so I can probably offer an unbiased opinion. There are two advantages to moving away from the weenie pipe; reliability and power. The engine will probably gain about 1 HP but it's the same for everyone. Reliability is bigger in my book, the small tube OD and WT on...

Hilliard Flame is the best but not the cheapest. They are a fine company and stand behind their products 100%.

Re: Briggs Motors in Kid Kart

Personally I would like to see the club consider the new Honda 50cc motor for kid karts. It's about the same cost as a stock Comer, small and compact, makes a tad more power, is sealed, and designed for 200 hours of operation. Practically a career for a kid karter. Plus Honda quality. Of course it w...

When we get to that stage we'll go with the Rotax. I like they way the Rotax can be converted from one stage to another all the way up to a senior max. Buy an engine for life.

Re: Engine Diaper Source

Dover Power has a new side cover gasket for clone motors that works very well. It's called the Black Super Seal and is 0.020" thick. They also have a nice valve cover gasket made from a rubberized material that is thick and durable.

Re: Engine Diaper Source

John, are there any pictures you can post? And can you clarify what is meant by "sealed side cover and valve cover"? I have the side cover bolts safety wired and a catch can on the valve cover vent, is there something more that needs to be done?

Thanks

Here's a post on Bob's forum. Doesn't sound too promising.

Re: clone side cover question

That's how I would do it. If you don't want to hassle with drilling bolts you can buy them at http://www.drilledheadbolts.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Here's a great link for torque specifications http://www.affordablegokarts.com/torquevalues.php" onclick="window.open(this.hre...
