Mychron Beacon Question

Postby Matt Christman » Sun Feb 09, 2014 3:04 am

Hello everyone. I just bought my son a beacon for his Mychron, since it seems that every now and then when we head out to the track, there isn't a beacon being used. Anyway, I unscrewed the back, put in 8 brand new AA batteries, closed it up and screwed the back on. I flip the Off / On switch to ON and nothing... I realize this is Infared, but shouldn't there be some kind of indication that this thing is on and working?

What am I missing, or did I get a defective unit?

Thanks for any help!

Isn't there a "Power On" LED on the front of the beacon? This should light up.

There is, but it doesn't light up. I'm hoping it just that one bad LED. I'll have to check it out more thoroughly.

The spot where the battery wires connect to the circuit board is prone to corrosion. I soldered in a bypass around the corroded area on mine. Let me know if you need help.
