SWRC @ Norman Aug 22-23

The SWRC schedule has changed. The October race has been moved to the Aug 22-23 rain date & will be held at OMC, Norman.

There is some discussion among the SWRC racers that they would like the event to be held Thursday night practice & Fri & Sat night racing under the lights.

NTK racers please post here or over in the SWRC forum http://www.southwestregionalcup.com/for ... f=47&t=187 as to your preference, a conference call between the tracks is scheduled to make a decision Monday June 29th @ 6pm.

Houston schools & some in the Dallas area start on Monday Aug 24th & some parents have expressed that Friday & Saturday night races will fit their schedule better for getting them back to school early Monday morning.

Denton ISD is out until the 25th of Aug. So it shouldn't be a problem for us.

I vote we run NTK Backwards for the substitute race.

I am with you NTK is in the middle. Racing backwards was an idea that Eric came up with. But ya know this means NTK approval. Iam sure the OK people would rather not travel but all the people from the south would probably vote NTK.

Guys,

This is a great idea! Thursday practice. Race Friday and Saturday night. NTK is midway for South Texas drivers and certainly
a short drive for the North of the border crowd. But, but and there's always a "But", Austin has no track and I figure a deal was done to lease Norman to Charlie. Now, Norman makes scents, as they are hosting a slew of big races later this year and the SWRC races held at Norman in May, had the best attendance of all tracks thus far.

It has already been decided to have the Aug race in Norman. It will be another opportunity for area racers to practice for the Rotax Grand Nationals. I think they are wondering if the racers want to race at night in Norman, Thursday night practice with Friday & Sat night races, or race during the day.

The tracks had a conference call & decided to have the Norman Aug 22-23 race on Saturday & Sunday. They plan on starting early to get racers on the road home at a reasonable hour. It was decided to have the races during the day as the Rotax Nationals will be run during the day so racers can practice under the same conditions.
