Why did DKC pull out? I thought I heard the one last year was a huge hit? Are they doing some other kind of local series or something?

Matt,
DKC said they enjoyed hosting the SWRC race last year, they had a good turn out, but the SWRC series didn't fit their business plan & left the series on amicable terms.
We don't know what plans they have but Kevin said they will be releasing their schedule probably within a couple of weeks so we will know then.

I may be interested in running a couple of Chonda karts in this series, however I see that the yellow engine is not allowed? Has this rule been re-evaluated since Harbor frieght no longer makes the greyhound motor and the only engine available are the yellow motors?
Thanks, Matt
Thanks, Matt

Matt,
Yes. I need to update the SWRC website with the 2012 rules but it will be AKRA 2012 rules.

I do have a couple question, and I do not mean to sound negative, but with $75 pre-entry fees, will all classes get payout? Or does the end of year points fund pay out a majority of these fees? I understand we all have to pay to race, but $75 seems steep if is just a trophy class.
Also, I just see a motor and tire rule, so there rules on bumpers/bodies, etc... I know some sanctions pretty particular on every little thing, so I want to make sure we are legal before shelling out the $$$
Again thanks and hopefully we can make it out to one, if not all of these shows.
Thanks, Matt

Matt,
There will be an announcement soon about regional racing in the area details are being worked on right now. Look for lots of changes in 2012.

I can't speak for the new series but last year the SWRC series gave away a new kart chassis, all class winners got an embroidered class championship jacket, very large YE "cup" trophies to 5th place in each class, and there were lots of driver prizes given away at the year end banquet including Ribtect3 vests, sets of tires, gift certificates, etc...
Regional racing is more expensive than club racing, corner workers & all other workers are hired, Race Director is hired, Tech Director is hired, webmaster is hired. At club races members volunteer these services but when a regional race comes to NTK the workers are paid (some opt for membership renewal credits in lieu of cash, their choice).
At every SWRC race there was always a very thorough tech in all classes by a hired professional tech director. It used to be Don Moormeister who went on to be hired full time by Rotax to be their National Tech Director. The past couple of years it was Rick Miller who has also gone on to preside over tech at national Rotax events & the Florida Winter Tour this year.
Ron, which races are you referring to "keeping everyone legal before shelling out the $$$
" can't be SWRC as you didn't ever race at any of those.

I can vouch for the tech at these races. We raced (for the first time) the entire series last year and had tech at each and every race - after qualifying and each heat. It was a wonderful learning experience and we were very confident that after all was said and done, everyone we raced with were running completely legal.

Matt,
I don't think you are on the SWRC newsletter list but an email was sent out and it was also posted on the SWRC website that there will be no SWRC series this year. 4 of the 5 tracks withdrew. 2 of those tracks have plans for a new series in 2012. They will come out with news about them soon I am sure.
Lori, glad to hear you were happy with the SWRC tech procedures. I got teched too in the Chonda class. Don Moormeister and Rick Miller take their responsibilities very seriously and always do a very thorough job at events. It's kind of a pain to have to reassemble parts & engines between heats and after events but at least you know everyone you race against is legal.
