Postby Leon Knox » Fri Aug 17, 2012 2:08 pm

Starting to put together a chonda kart for my 10 year old daughter. We have a clone we been racing in her cage kart that has finally sold so i got the engin but we have not raced since the new flywheel went in effect i am lost on what flywheel we need to make it legal looking for the cheapest i can get lol. Also any ideas on a starting point for gearing when i find the kart lol i know it is different then the cage karts thanks.

The flywheel can be either of these:

ARC 6619, (most popular at NTK) http://www.arcracing.com/servlet/the-3/ ... nda/Detail

ARC 6618, http://www.arcracing.com/servlet/the-14 ... nda/Detail

ARC Billet Steel, (most affordable) http://www.arcracing.com/servlet/the-77 ... eel/Detail

They also allow these that I have never seen:
Raceseng Flywheels RSP-13-075
Rewheel NF- S1 & RSP-13-077
Rewheel F-S1

Gearing, I don't know for the junior class exactly, but in the 320 adult class a good starting point is around a 15/57 or 14/53.

the cheap one is heavier, the same weight as the stock one. The 6619 is a bit lighter.

easy to change, could be done between heats if you needed to. may just need to impact the nut off though.

keep in mind though, if you are changing flywheels between the alumium and steel one, you will need different key ways to keep the advanced timing relative. I run an 8 dgr key on the steel one and only a 4 dgr key on the aluminum one. We also ran into an issue with the steel one, where once it was installed the cup that catches the sring loaded fingers on the recoil was sucked in too far and the recoil would not work... food for thought, be sure to get it right and not rush.
