Re: clone gear ratio

Charles,

Right now we are running the long track. I have a 15 tooth driver gear & a 53 tooth rear gear that seems to work pretty well. Austin had the same gearing in his Chonda. Because of the cross member on my Trackmagic Dragon I can't go bigger on the rear gear.

Re: Briggs Animal Motor

I checked on the specifications for this class & found out the following.

No it does not have to be sealed.

Yes it does have to be stock.

Re: New to Karting

Kevin, It's hard to explain but when you get a kart & go out to the track you will understand. You take the kart out for a session, drive several laps, tuner (Dad) & driver discuss the handling, adjustments are made (lots of variables here, tyre pressure, weight distribution, spacers to move...

Re: New to Karting

Kevin, When we started karting we also thought our 2 boys (17 months apart) could share a kart. It is a good idea in theory but doesn't work out as expected. There is a lot to learn when you are starting out about handling & chassis set up, distribution of weights, etc... It is hard enough to ge...

Re: Briggs Animal Motor

Jim, That sounds like a good idea. Maybe rent them to racers (don't have to be members) for $25 a race (in addition to entry fee). Kind of a rent to own. When the rental equals the purchase price (about 1 race season) it is theirs. If they decide not to race anymore after several races they are not ...

Re: Briggs Animal Motor

Mike, I'm not sure but I think the Animal class that is being started at NTK is a spec class with a sealed engine so no one will be able to work on them except the authorized service center, which I beleive is KAM Karting? If they are kept stock they shouldn't need to be worked on very often. Maybe ...

NTK Host Hotel

The Holiday Inn Express and Suites is a brand new hotel that has opened just south of the track on the west side of Interstate 35. It is the closest hotel to the track and is the NTK host hotel. They have a North Texas Karters rate of $89 The hotel offers the following amenities * Free Hot Deluxe Br...

Fuel Sales on Race Day

A new procedure has been put in place - starting at Spring 6 please purchase your fuel early. Fuel sales will be over prior to the Driver's Meeting. We don't have enough workers to staff fuel sales throughout the event so plan on purchasing your fuel early on race day.

You might want to check with Lori to see if the software will allow one class to run a different race format to other classes.

Maybe changing all classes to the same format for a race would be less confusing to people in scoring.

Greg,

I know an NTK member has one. I have seen them practicing at the track. They don't race but take their karts to the track to practice and play. Maybe they will post here with more info.

Eric, Good for you jumping in there & going for it! I'm sure you will do great just as soon as you get a little more seat time. Do you have a rib protector vest? Those really help protect your ribs. It's not your age even the little kids wear them. The seat edges are so hard & the G force in...
