Seat Adjustment

We are getting my son's kart ready for him and making it fit to him, I am worried about what we are doing to make him sit up high enough and whether or not it is okay to do. We have added two steal plates with holes drilled into it, one on either side, so that he is sitting up high enough to be able to see and to be in better control of his kart. These pieces of steal are bolted into the normal spot that you would attach the back of the seat to and then they extend out and the seat is bolted to that. Is there anything against this? I have read the rules and don't really see anything against it. Thanks in advance for any help!

Dianna, Sounds like it will work. Since these seat bolts are now holding weights on, you will need to make sure that they are drilled on the end and have a clip or safety wire in them just as a normal weight bolt would have. Also the weights have to be painted white in color, bob

Are we having to paint it white because it is extra metal that would potentially add weight? It is only like 1/4 inch steel. I am going to try and find a picture of what it looks like. Thanks for the response! If I find a picture I will post it here.

The rule says: IKF 105.2.1.21 All weight or ballast must be painted white...
