Qualifying Times

Post by Matt Graybiel »

Hi,
I thought I read a post about kid kart qualifying times and competitive times but I cannot seem to find it. Cannot find anything in the rules either.
So my questions are:
1. What should we be shooting for to qualify for a race? 65 seconds?
2. What should we shoot for, realistically, to be competitive?

I get that my son, John (5 1/2), won't be competitive until he gets more seat time, but I want to set some goals. I also have a lot to learn about keeping his kart running and legal.

Thanks in Advance,

Matt,
Times aside, good driving is key. Make sure he is driving a good straight line - no weaving -and paying attention to what is coming up in front of him. To start racing, yes, he should be running at least a 65 second lap time.

Good in the mix times are around 52-53 seconds.

Thanks Lori. That gives us a target time to shoot for. He is pretty smooth, just a little slow @67 seconds and down from 75 seconds. However he gets a little better and I learn something new to help him, each time we go out.
