Tag 60 Gearing

Howdy, we just purchased a used cadet kart with a TAG 60 gazelle engine for my son. It currently has a 90 tooth rear sprocket. Will this be in the ballpark for NTK?

We run a 72 gear rear/10t front for the NTK races. We've gone as low as a 71 and have tried up to a 74, but our driver is starting his 3rd yr on this engine. Some friends of ours from HCKC started out with a 74 and worked down to a 72 once their driver was more comfortable with the corners.

All of that to say, start with a 10/74 and see how that works for your driver.

Hold on to the 90, though. We are going to have our "short track" race in a couple of weeks (Spring 5) and you'll need a higher gear for it.
