How do I mount a seat?

I just bought another kart and it had a small seat mounted. I need to mount my XL seat. Is there a proper order of operations for mounting a seat? Do I just hammer and bend the heck out of the braces to clear my wide XL seat? Any hints/tips are appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Aaron,

When I was webmaster I posted some articles in the NTK Resources page that includes one titled "The Art of Installing a Seat" it is a reprint of an National Karting News article. Be sure to click on the image to view the entire article that is four pages long.

Ribtect makes a very nice seat mounting kit that includes low profile bolts, all high quality parts. Here is the link. http://www.ribtect.com/RibtectSeat_Mounting_Kit.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I hope this helps.

Aaron, we have been know to bend the seat struts with large breaker bars or 6 foot iron bars.

I think Gene puts large tubing over the seat struts to gently bend them rather than use a hammer. Let me check with him & I will post back if he has any other tips.

yes, you can break the welds with a hammer, be gentle.
