Question for you Go Pro users!

Post by Tony Hager »

Just curious what the basic package that is needed for a good quality video for use as a driving trainer. Do you need the full blown Hero4 or is the 3 or even the basic enough? What add-ons are needed to mount it on the kart.

Thanks in advance!

I use a knock off Go Pro (same generation as Hero 2) that does 720p and 60fps. It is fine for reviewing video. The 60fps @ 720p is better for high speed action, 1080p @ 30fps is too choppy. NTK does have some rules on the camera mounting, so I'd look at the rules for mounting. I see a lot of people mount them on their radiator or plastic that runs up the steering column. It's also a good idea to have a safety wire or zip tie backup, in case the mount gets broken from vibration or impact.

Tony the basic Go Pro is fine or the knock off. You can't mount it on the driver helmet. Best place is on the front steering wheel column fairing. Aim it down slightly so you can see the drivers feet work the brake and gas.
